Cancellation and trip charge policy
Last updated 30 July 2026
Accurate to how we work today. Not yet reviewed by an attorney, and the late notice charge is still a working figure rather than a confirmed rate.
The short version
Move it more than 8 hours ahead and it costs nothing. Inside that, or if we cannot get in when we arrive, there is a late notice charge. We would always rather reschedule than charge you.
1. Moving a shoot yourself
You can reschedule an upcoming shoot from your dashboard, free of charge, up to 8 hours before it starts. No phone call and no permission needed.
2. Inside 8 hours
You can still move it. We deliberately do not block the button, because an agent who cannot reschedule in the app simply does not show up, and an empty driveway costs everyone more than a late change does.
A late notice charge of $50 applies. This figure is not yet confirmed and will be fixed before card payment goes live.
It is a late notice charge rather than a cancellation fee on purpose. What it covers is the slot: that morning was held for your listing and is now too late to give to anyone else.
3. When we arrive and cannot shoot
If we cannot get access at the booked time we will wait a reasonable period and try to reach you. If we still cannot get in, it is treated as a cancellation inside the notice window and the same late notice charge applies.
A property that is not ready is not the same thing and carries no charge. We shoot it as it stands. The shoot takes longer than the estimate and whatever is left out is in the frame. Decluttering can clear it in post if you have booked it.
4. When we have to move a shoot
We ask, we never move it unilaterally. The date is yours because you are paying for it. Equipment fails and weather turns, and when it does you will hear it from us as early as we know, with a reason and with alternatives. If we cancel on you there is no charge of any kind.
5. Weather
Cloud, drizzle and just rained are all shooting weather, and every exterior gets a blue sky in the edit anyway. Only heavy rain stops us, because the equipment cannot be out in it. A shoot stopped by weather is rescheduled at no cost.
6. Weekend dates
A weekend date is a request rather than a booking until we confirm it by hand, and it carries a $100 rush fee that members do not pay. If we cannot cover the date we will say so and nothing is charged.
7. Talk to us first
If something has gone wrong, email hello@blankdm.com before worrying about the policy. Almost everything on this page has been waived at some point for someone who told us what was happening.
